A ROSCREA man who drove without a learner’s permit was among the people convicted at last week’s district court of motoring offences.
Jamie Donoghue, 1 Chapel Lane, Roscrea, was fined €100 for being an unaccompanied learner driver, at the Abbeyleix Road, Portlaoise, on August 15 last year. Charges of having front and rear identity plates which did not conform, and a charge of failing to produce documents, were taken into consideration.
Meanwhile, Anthony Doheny, 62 Kiln Lane, Mountrath, was fined €300 for non display of tax disc, at Bellingham, Portlaoise, on July 24 last year. He has three previous convictions for road traffic offences.
Nicholas Joseph Kane, 32 Cathair na gCapall, Portarlington, was fined €100 for travelling at 75km/h in a 60km zone, at Lea Road, Portarlington, on May 15.
Sinead Gallagher, Station Road, Portarlington, was fined €100 for travelling at 77km/h in a 60km zone, at Lea Road, Port, on May 15.
Christine Keogh, Ballybrittas, was charged with non display of tax disc, at Inch Cross, Vicarstown, on August 23 last year. She did not appear in court and was represented by solicitor, Mr Philip Meagher. She was fined €200.
And Jemma Lawlor, Mill Road, Durrow, was fined €300 for drink driving, at Trumera, Mountrath, on June 19. She was detected with 130mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Lawlor was fined €300 and disqualified from driving for two years, with the disqualification postponed until October 1.
