Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley has called for extra staff for the Private Residential Tenancies Board, who resolve disputes between landlords and tenants.
“One in five households lives in private rented accommodation, yet the government is cutting resources to the PRTB. This flies in the face of reality,” he said.
Dep Stanley says it takes almost a year to have cases heard.
“This is set to increase with the growing number of rented properties and the serious reduction in staff.
“Issues of anti-social behaviour and repairs will not be tackled. This is unacceptable,” he said, speaking during a recent presention by the PRTB in the Dáil.
