A Mountmellick woman has been ordered to pay compensation, after she broke a shop window during an altercation with her husband.

Lisa Nevin, 37 College Avenue, Mountmellick, was charged with criminal damage, at O’Gorman’s Newsagents, Patrick Street, Mountmellick, on May 12.

Inspector Declan Dunne said Nevin put her elbow through the shop window and damaged a number of items. Total damage was €970.

Defence, Mr Philip Meagher said Nevin had been out socialising with her husband and on the walk home a verbal argument started. Things got heated, and it had not been her intention but her elbow came into contact with the window. There were also a number of display items damaged.

Judge Catherine Staines ordered her to pay €970 and the matter was put back to February 20, 2014.
