A Portlaoise councillor has demanded to know how much it costs to send him to meetings in Tullamore.

Cllr Willie Aird raised his concerns at the last Laois Offaly Education & Training Board (formerly VECs) meeting about having to travel to the next committee meeting in January. The last number of meetings were held in Portlaoise. Mr Aird, who arrived a half an hour late to the meeting, said that he would like to see what it is now costing per meeting.

“Dragging me the whole way to Tullamore for a meeting is scandalous, I’m an elected representative”, he said.

Cllr Arid was told that it was decided at the ETB’s first meeting that both counties would host meetings.
