The public have until this Friday November 22 to submit their opinions on the government’s new Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), which is being drawn up to deal with future renewable energy export projects.

The SEA will set out a clear national policy, identify areas suitable for renewable energy, and give guidance to planning authorities when deciding on planning applications.

The government say that renewable energy resources should be maximised, as long as the environment is protected, there are community benefits, jobs and economic growth, and there is no cost on the Irish consumer.

Written submissions can be sent up to 5.30pm this Friday, marked ‘Renewable Energy Export Framework’, to Alan Duggan, Sustainable & Renewable Energy Division, Dept of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, 29-31 Adelaide Road, Dublin 2 or emailed to export@dcenr.gov.ie.
