The Laois Bible Fellowship Church has applied for permission to build a new church and community hall on the grounds of the Old Boys School in Stradbally, and to convert the old school into a new preschool facility.
In their application, the Fellowship has requested permission to construct a church and hall on the grounds of the old school on the Vicarstown Road, to partially demolish a section of the existing structure, and to change the use of the existing school to a preschool facility.
The group meet every Sunday morning for church worship and children’s Sunday school. Throughout the week, they also hold bible classes and prayer groups. There is also a youth group which meets twice monthly.
The preschool opening hours will be Monday - Friday, 9am to 1pm, with three employees. Gatherings will be held Tuesday 10am to 1pm, Wednesday 8pm to 10pm, Friday 6pm to 10pm, Sunday 10am to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm.
A letter of consent has been forwarded to the council from Fr Jim O’Connell, PP, of the parish of Stradbally/Timahoe/Vicarstown.
A decision is now due from Laois County Council by February 21.
