A Dublin man convicted of bringing drugs into prison was last week given a suspended sentence.
Paul Kelly, 31 Esker Meadow Close, Lucan, Dublin, was convicted at a previous court sitting of three counts of the possession of the drugs, and one count of supply into a place of detention, at the Midlands Prison on March 22.
The case was adjourned for a probation report, and at last week’s Portlaoise District Court Judge Catherine Staines noted that Kelly had not kept all his appointments with the probation service.
Kelly was given a six-month sentence, suspended for two years.
Recognisance was fixed in the event of an appeal.
