Portlaoise Public meeting the future of Hospital

A host of public meetings have been called for to protest at the possible downgrading of the A&E at Portlaoise Hospital.

A host of public meetings have been called for to protest at the possible downgrading of the A&E at Portlaoise Hospital.

Brian Stanley TD has called a public meeting at Portlaoise Hospital next Tuesday night, June 9 at 8pm in St Mary’s Hall, Dublin Road, Portlaoise.

The Sinn Féin TD said the meeting would bes an opportunity for people to voice their concerns and show their support for Portlaoise Hospital and to build a strong campaign to save services there.

All elected representatives, community groups, clubs, hospital staff, unions and members of the public are invited to attend.

The meeting will be independently chaired.

Meanwhile, a public meeting will be held in Athy next Tuesday at 8.30pm. Another meeting is planned for Monasterevin.

A special meeting of Laois County Council has been called for next Tuesday, January 9 to discuss the hospital’s future.
