Sewage problems in town’s Lyster Sq

There are blockages, cracks, poor connections and debris in some of the sewers in Lyster Square, Portlaoise.

So confirmed a senior engineer with Laois County Council, in response to a motion put forward for Cllr Noel Tuohy. Cllr Tuohy asked that the sewage be checked as it is repeatedly giving problems.

He received a written reply from Mr Michael O’Hora, engineer, saying that the council will be submitting an asset needs brief to Irish Water and seeking funding to solve the problem.

Cllr Tuohy said a lot of business people had complained, as the problem was obviously not ging to attract shoppers to the area.
