Durrow safety measures needed

IT is hoped that Community Employment Schemes will still be in place to assist with the provision of footpaths and safety measures at the Harps GAA Grounds in Durrow.

IT is hoped that Community Employment Schemes will still be in place to assist with the provision of footpaths and safety measures at the Harps GAA Grounds in Durrow.

At the Borris-in-Ossory electoral area meeting, Cllr John Bonham stressed the need for work to be carried out, describing the location as being ‘busy with cyclists and walkers’.

Senior Executive Engineer Michael Malone outlined that the provision of a foot path from the fire station to the GAA grounds was a very worthwhile proposal, however, he added, “No funding is available but we will request that this be again considered for funding.”

Cllr Bonham suggested the possibilty of a CE Scheme to carry out some of the work and this was supported, with Cathaoirleach Marty Phelan stressing ‘the work needs to be done’.
