There has been public criticism of the use of a Segway in Laois Shopping Centre, after an accident left a security guard injured.

Last Monday morning the guard was flung from his segway as he went up the travelator. A ball bounced under his segway, knocking it off balance. Staff heldhim on the ground for almost an hour until an ambulance arrived. He is since recovered.

Harcourt Developments say an investigation is underway.
