A probation report has been ordered on a foreign national who breached a protection order.
Lukasz Cierocki was charged with the offence at his listed address at Rockview Green in Portlaoise on January 16 this year.
Garda Sheila Cunningham gave evidence at last week’s sitting of the district court in Portlaoise that the gardaí attended at the scene of a domestic dispute at the house. They spoke to the defendant as he was walking away, and he told them that he was moving out of the marital house.
Garda Cunningham said that the gardaí then spoke to the defendant’s wife, who had a protection order in place since January 8 this year. The woman told the gardaí she was in fear of her partner.
“She said he called her abusive names and she was in fear of him as a result,” said Garda Cunningham.
Cierocki had no previous convictions.
Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client had very recently moved out of the marital home and had returned to the house on the day to retrieve personal items. The court heard that the couple had three young children.
Judge Catherine Staines put the matter back to June 4 for a probation report.
