It is understood that up to 400 cannabis plants with a street value of E160,000 were seized at Rathmiles House, Portarlington late on Wednesday, August 31. Two men, one in his 50s and a second in his 30s, who are understood to be of Asian origin were arrested at the scene.

They were detained at Portlaoise Garda Station.

The Gardai confirmed that the armed Garda Special Response Unit were involved in the operation alongside local officers and the national drug unit. It is understood that no weapons were discovered.
