A CLONASLEE man has been fined and disqualified from driving, after he drunkenly crashed his car into a wall.
Shane Smith, 12 Hillview Estate, Clonaslee, also had no road tax or insurance, when he was caught by gardaí on September 19 last year, after colliding with a wall at Hillview Estate. A blood sample showed he had 155mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick admitted it was a very serious matter. She said that her client had been out socially with the car parked up, but when he returned home a friend phoned him and asked for a lift. She said he had just bought the car, so there was no insurance on it.
For drink driving, Smith was fined €300 and disqualified for three years. For no tax he was fined €50, and for no insurance he was fined €150 and disqualified from driving for two years.
