A high speed chase across county borders resulted in two arrests being made in Timahoe at the weekend, after the perpetrators’ car crashed as it was being followed by gardaí.
Gardaí from both Laois and Kilkenny were involved in the operation, which ended with a vehicle crashing in Money Cross after a pursuit across the country.
The incident began in County Kilkenny, when a car drove off from a filling station in Urlingford on Saturday, December 14. The vehicle was later seen acting suspiciously in Urlingford and was observed heading towards Laois.
The car was met by Abbeyleix gardaí who pursued it, but the car failed to stop for the officers.
Following a chase through the county, the vehicle eventually crashed at Money Cross, in Timahoe.
A number of people made their escape from the car. However, local gardaí made two arrests.
The two people arrested were brought back to Kilkenny. They were removed from the scene by Kilkenny gardaí, who are now dealing with the incident.
It has been confirmed that the two arrested are from the Dublin area.
A garda spokesperson has revealed that the people involved were wanted by Kilkenny gardaí and are not currently wanted for any crimes in Laois.
However, the spokesperson has said that there may be future charges brought against them, in relation to motoring offences arising out of this incident.
