A patching unit will be available in the Western area for the remainder of the year, councilors heard at the recent Borris in Ossory electoral area meeting.
Cllr John Joe Fennelly welcomed the news, adding that people have been putting cones in bad potholes in the area, and asked that these be looked after.
“Some of them are brutal, there are some in Kilbricken and if you hit them you would go over the ditch. At least you’ll go slow if you see the bollard”.
However Cllr Marty Phelan disagreed with the use of bollards, saying that no one should but bollards into potholes.
“I don’t think the residents are fair to themselves doing that”, he said.
Cllr Brendan Phelan said that the weather at the moment was a great opportunity for the patching unit as it works best in dry weather.
Acting senior executive engineer Brenda Cuddy then told the councillors to send her a list of areas in need of attention.
