A Portlaoise man who brought cannabis to the garda station when he was collecting items from the gardaí was fined at last week’s district court.
Barry McStay, 93 Clonrooske Abbey, Portlaoise, was charged with the possession of drugs, at Portlaoise Garda Station on June 19 last year.
Inspector Aidan Farrelly gave evidence that McStay went to the station to retrieve certain items and while there a garda saw a bag of cannabis protruding from his top pocket.
The drug was valued at €50 and McStay admitted it was for his own use.
Judge Catherine Staines convicted McStay and fined him €200.
