A house with three young children was without hot water for almost a fortnight, Cllr Bobby Delaney told Mountmellick Town Council the most recent monthly meeting.
The Fine Gael councillor added that the repairs were taking a long time to complete.
“I am concerned about house repairs. They seem to be taking an age,”
Laois County Council’s housing department, in a written reply, explained that due to budgetary constraints only emergency and essential repairs were being done.
These were being carried out as quickly as possible by the Council’s own staff or, where necessary, by contractors.
However, Cllr Delaney, who is a candidate in the local elections, called for better liaison from county hall with tenants on the issue.
