They can’t even take a shower in Ralish, claims Cllr Fennelly

Water pressure in the Ralish area is so low that people can’t take a shower in the morning and some homes can’t even use their washing machine.

Water pressure in the Ralish area is so low that people can’t take a shower in the morning and some homes can’t even use their washing machine.

So claimed Cllr John Joe Fennelly at County Hall last week, asking Laois County Council to install a booster pump.

He was informed in a written reply from Mr Jack Creegan of the water section that there are a number of options to be examined and the council will raise the matter with Irish Water.

“I’m not happy with that response,” remarked Cllr Fennelly. “This is going on five years, people cannot have a shower at 8am, and they can’t put on the washing machine in two or three houses.”

He informed the meeting of the Portlaoise Municipal District that he had contacted Irish Water, but had been on the phone for over 13 minutes and there was still no response from the company.

Cllr Willie Aird said that the councillors had previously been told there would be a liaison officer on the council dealing directly with Irish Water. His proposal for the officer to be clearly identified was supported by all present.
