A Portarlington man was last week given the probation act for stealing alcohol.
William O’Driscoll, 3 Park House, Park Lane, Port, was charged with theft at Centra, Main Street, Port, on December 13, 2011.
Inspector Aidan Farrelly gave evidence that O’Driscoll stole Bulmers cider and Buckfast.
The inspector said O’Driscoll had a long list of previous convictions, over 86.
Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said the goods were recovered, and had not been opened.
Judge Staines applied the probation act.
