A charity craft fair with a European flavour is being held in the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow this Saturday afternoon December 6.

The fair will feature crafts, Christmas treats and food and is being organised by Latvian native and mum of three Indra Sermuksle, who has lived and worked in Durrow for the past ten years.

She is raising money for the Carlow family of Vineta Bolger, another Latvian mum of three, who passed away from bowel cancer aged 36 on October 31. leaving her Irish husband Kevin and three young sons Jack (2), Lee James (4) and Max (11).

Vineta’s battle to stay alive and positive attitude hit national papers, while fundraising continues in Carlow for her young family.

Indra is hoping she can contribute by holding the fair.

“Everybody is welcome to come, many people I have got to know by cleaning houses in Durrow are coming to join in helping me, so that I can donate money to this family,” said Indra.

So far thirty tables of craft and food producers have signed up for the fair.

“There will be loads of different things bypeople from the Ukraine, Latvia and other European countries as well as local. There will be cosmetics, knitting, food, cookies, decoupage and christmas gifts,” she said.

The fair runs from 12 to 5pm. entrance is €1, kids are free. Every second ticket is entered into a raffle, while donations buckets will be inside for the Bolger family.
