Two of six councillors from the Portarlington Graiguecullen district were absent without notice at the monthly meeting on April 15, leading to a discussion on whether their motions could be read out, or be dropped.

Cllr Ben Brennan and Cllr Moran had not given notice that they would miss the meeting, with Cllr Moran out of the country.

Council standing orders say that written requests must be made for motions to be read out in the absence of members.

It was agreed to suspend the standing orders, so the five motions and eachreply could be heard.
