The event, on Sunday, April 24 gets underway in Durrow at 12 noon and continues through Ballykealy and the Cullahill Mountain before finishing in Gathabawn, whare a BBQ will be held at Mackeys Bar.

The organisers say there will be a halfway refreshment point at 3pm on the scenic Cullahill Mountain, where other people can also join the walk at the trail head.

Transport will be available for those returning to Durrow at the end of the 5km walk.

“This is a rambler’s paradise in the undiscovered Ireland and an ideal opportunity to explore the beautiful walks of South Laois and North Kilkenny from where at a point on Cullahill Mountain seven counties come into view with the Blackstairs, Comerah, Galty moutains and Wicklow hills all visible,” says one of the organisers Michael G Phelan.

Walking clubs from Wicklow and Westmeath, along with Laois walks festival members, have already expressed an interest in this walk.
