A PORTLAOISE man who trashed his own home and broke two windows following an incident with his partner was fined last week.

A PORTLAOISE man who trashed his own home and broke two windows following an incident with his partner was fined last week.

Inspector Martin Harrington told the District Court that gardaí were called to the home of Patrick Delaney, Apt 5, 22 Coote Street, Portlaoise, at 12.40am on July 3. When they arrived at the scene they discovered Delaney throwing glasses and kitchen utensils and he had broken two windows.

He has seven previous convictions.

Defence, Mr Philip Meagher explained that his client had taken a lot of drink and there had been a very traumatic incident involving his former partner which caused him to become agitated. Mr Meagher said that Delaney had since fixed the glass in the windows and he is still living in the same apartment.

Delaney was fined €200.
