TELEVISION presenter Mary Kennedy showed her support for the Dunamaise Arts Centre’s fundraiser Red or Black while she was in Portlaoise last Wednesday at St Peter and Paul’s Church.
Mary along with priests of the parish Fr Paddy Byrne and Fr George Augustine, met with the arts centre’s director Michelle de Forge and organising committee for the event to wish them well with the fundraiser.
Red or Black will be taking place on Friday March 15 at the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel. Kick starting the festivities for St Patrick’s Day, the event, hosted by RTE sports analyst and hurling legend Michael Duignan, is a live game show. As everyone knows, it is also a major fundraiser for the Dunamaise Arts Centre and will give a member of the audience the chance of winning €1,000 and other great prizes on the night.
The game show is sweeping across Europe to large crowds but this is the first time it will be staged in Laois. With cash prizes up to €1,500, celebrities, performances and highly entertaining games, Red or Black will be a great night out for all and will be and a great way of supporting the Dunamaise, which President Michael D Higgins referred to earlier this year as “a centre of excellence”.
On the night there will be a number of tasks to be completed by the pre-entered teams. Each team in the competitive tasks will represent either red or black. The audience will also be divided into supporting the red or black teams. After each task the winning colour ticket holders will progress into the next round of tasks with the aim of winning the €1,500 jackpot and other cash prizes.
The full list of performers on the night will shortly be announced and tickets are currently on sale at €15 from the box office. Contact 057 86 63355 or visit www.dunamaise.ie for more.
