AN estimated €7,000 of damage was caused at the Heath Golf Club on Tuesday, June 25, when vandals broke in and destroyed a number of the club’s golf buggies.

A spokesperson from the club, who did not wish to be identified, revealed to the Leinster Express that some six buggies were left inoperable and many more damaged in the incident.

The culprits tore out starters from the golf buggies, tore up enclosures, even demolished an accelerator pedal.

The spokesperson said the culprits arrived by car and proceeded toward the pro shop golf.

They made the security light in operable, before they climbed up and covered the cameras with plastic bags.

Despite this, two men were captured on camera, and these images have now been given to the gardaí.

“These must be stopped before worse harm is carried out by them elsewhere,” said the spokesperson.

A reward is being offered by the club for any information that leads to their arrest.

Portlaoise gardaí declined to comment on their ongoing investigation, but they asked anyone with any information to call them on 05786 74100.
