There is no funding available in the 2013 budget for bollards in Ballinakill, councillors heard at the recent meeting of Borris in Ossory electoral area.
Cllr John Joe Fennelly asked for the bollards to be erected at the GAA pitch entrance in the village, “as the kerb height is causing problems for motorists”. However he was told by acting senior executive engineer Brenda Cuddy that there is no funding. “People shouldn’t drive up on the kerb”, she said. “This is a ten inch kerb. It is a simple job and would be flexible bollards - the GAA will put them up if we provide them”, Cllr Fennelly replied.
