THE Laois/Offaly Campaign Against Household and Water Taxes (CAHWTs) is holding a ‘standing together rally’ in the Portlaoise GAA centre at 8pm, this Thursday, April 26.
Luke Flanagan TD and Ray Fitzpatrick, local representative for CATWTs, will presents the case against what they describe as an “odious tax”.
It is almost three months since the launch CAHWTs meeting took place in the constituency and since that time over 30 public meetings have taken place, from Rathdowney to Edenderry, Graigecullen to Clara and Birr to Portarlington, and almost everywhere in-between. The campaign continues to grow against a backdrop of “government spin and propaganda,” according to Ray Fitzpatrick.
“It is interesting to note that Laois County Council have no information on the households that signed-up in the county or online. Meanwhile our campaign goes on and gathers strength,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.
He invites everyone to attend the meeting this Thursday night, as a sign of solidarity against this “cowardly attack on our way of life” and to become part of the history that future generations will read about.
“Don’t let this government undermine our historic achievements with a law designed to help fill the pockets of billionaires - they already have enough,” Mr Fitzpatrick concluded.
