LAOIS County Council has been asked to provide an update and plans on the proposals of the Council’s land banks in Abbeyleix and Durrow.
The council was asked by Councillor John Joe Fennelly at the recent Borris in Ossory electoral area meeting. He was told by Michael Malone, senior executive engineer with Laois County Council that the council is preparing a detailed masterplan for the lands at Abbeyleix which will look at potential layouts for sites and address infrastructural issues. “Once this has been completed we can look at potential users and uses in accordance with the zoning in the County Developement Plan. We are in the process of assessing the lands in Durrow and will inform the councillors on this assessment when it has been prepared”.
Cllr Fennelly said that “there were great plans three or four years ago, we have to keep it alive”.
