LAOIS County Council’s dispute with the bond company over the Garden Village estate in Portlaoise remains unresolved.
At the recent town council meeting, Cllr Alan Hand asked for an update on outstanding works at the estate and requested that all work be completed.
“It’s regrettable that it’s taken so long to resolve. Children can’t even play in the green area and there’s an issue with public lighting, a number of lights are not working,” he said.
His colleague, Cllr Caroline Dwane added that the issue has been going on for a number of years.
A response from town clerk, Susan Rooney explained that the county council has called in the bond, but there is a dispute with the bond company over the money needed.
Cllr Jerry Lodge said the council need to be “cuter” over bonds provided by developers.
“With any bond in future, the terms and conditions should be watertight to ensure there’s no dispute,” he said.
