No profit from cannabis supply

THERE was no profit being made by a Portlaoise man who was supplying cannabis to his friends, defence claimed at last week’s district court.

Brian Murray, 41 Bianconi Way, was found with €444 of cannabis in a number of bags at his home on November 5 last year. Inspector Martin Harrington told the court that Murray admitted having the drug for sale or supply.

Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said that her client had not been making a profit, he had merely been buying the drug in bulk to get it cheaper and then sharing it with his friends.

“He’s not proud of his actions,” she said, adding that Murray has now stopped using the drug.

The matter was put back to November 8 for a probation report and urine analysis.
