Clonaslee College celebrated their Transition Year Awards recently, recalling highlights like the trip to Paris and the many competitions won.

Clonaslee College celebrated their Transition Year Awards recently, recalling highlights like the trip to Paris and the many competitions won.

MC Ciara Lee introduced each student, who explained their projects including mental health promotion, a 5k race, the yearbook and charity fundraisers.

Five students won at the Scifest Regional Finals in Athlone. Students received bronze medals in the Gaisce awards, won first place in a Laois Heritage Competition and third in the Co-operation is Cool competition.

They won the Regional Karate School’s Competiton, with five individual winners.

School of Music bursaries were awarded to Bronagh Conroy and Ciara Dunne.

The TY Build-Bank Team qualified in the regional final to represent Clonaslee College in the All-Ireland.

Musical students performed with the help of LSM teachers Eddie O’Neill and Adela Meally, while a karate display was led by karate master Patrick Beaumont and team. Students also performed scenes from Hamlet, The Importance of Being Ernest, Dancing at Lughnasa.

They made a presentation to TY Co-ordinator Maura Brid Gallagher. Principal Noreen Sweeney praised their success, thanking all involved for their hard work.
