A Portarlington man has had to be airlifted to Tallaght Hospital following a workplace accident.

A Portarlington man has had to be airlifted to Tallaght Hospital following a workplace accident.

It is understood that the man, who is aged in his 40s, was injured after being trapped under a truck he had been working on in an engineering works on the Canal Road on Thursday morning, August 27.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in the Laois town and as soon as he was safely freed he was transferred to Tallaght.

While the nature or extent of his injuries are not known at this time, Tallaght is a regional orthopaedic trauma centre.
