The council are progressing with work on the Killenard Lodge Housing Estate in Killenard so it can be taken in charge.
Cllr Tom Mulhall had asked for an update on the process. He said the houses were bought in 2005 at the height of the building boom.
“The residents are unsure about the water supply. It’s taken time for the council to be in a position to take the estate in charge, but there are very little issues in the estate regarding unfinished work.
He continued: “I call on Laois County Council to take this estate in charge sooner rather than later. People paid an enormous price for these houses. They are currently on a private water scheme provided by the developer and need to be connected to the public scheme in Killenard.”
Late last year, the residents found themselves with no water, after the developer unexpectedly cut off the water supply to the estate.
