A MOUNTMELLICK woman who struck another vehicle while she was moving her husband’s car in the yard of a local business has been fined at the district court.

Lisa Nevin, 7 College View, Mountmellick, was charged with no driving licence, no insurance and non display of tax disc, at Avonmore, Mountmellick, on April 4.

Defence, Mr Philip Meagher explained that the incident occurred in the yard of a hardware store. Nevin’s husband had parked the car and gone into the store, but after 20 minutes Nevin realised the car was blocking access to a storage shed so she foolishly moved the vehicle.

“She took too large a turn and clipped another vehicle,” said Mr Meagher, adding that the car Nevin was in was insured but she was not a qualified driver. He told Judge Catherine Staines that the damage to the other vehicle has been taken care of by Nevin’s husband’s insurance.

Nevin was fined €200.
