a NINETEEN year old Mountmellick man was praised by Judge Catherine Staines for improving his life, after she read over his probation report and letter of apology, during last Thursday’s District Court sitting.
Shane Byrne of 6 Silverbrook, Mountmellick, faced three charges, following his arrest by Garda Adrian Corcoran in Kirwan Park on July 8 last year.
Charges included intoxication in a public place, failure to comply with directions of a Garda, and threatening/abusive or insulting behaviour in a public place.
After reading, Judge Staines asked Shane Byrne to confirm he had stopped drinking, and was attending Athy Alternative training centre.
“Mr Byrne this is a good report. You are obviously an intelligent young man, you have your junior and leaving certs. You don’t want to have a criminal record do you?” she asked.
Mr Byrne agreed he did not, and she then applied section 11, dismissing the case.
