A Tullamore man has been given a ten-month sentence having been convicted of a number of thefts.
Stephen Murphy, 160 Arden View, Tullamore, was seen interfering with the pay station at Tullamore Hospital on February 24. He was observed walking away from the pay station with a wheel brace, having caused a substantial amount of damage.
Between March 9/10, he broke into the Tullamore GAA club and stole approximately €250 and a computer hard drive, neither of which were recovered.
On March 16 he broke into Tullamore train station and smashed two vending machines before stealing coins. He also smashed the bulletproof partition in the station with a hammer.
Murphy had 48 previous convictions.
Judge Catherine Staines imposed a ten-month sentence on the criminal damage charge, with a further six-month sentence, consecutive, suspended for two years for Murphy to engage with the probation services.
