Chased by gardaí over five counties

An alleged burglary followed by a garda pursuit through five counties resulted in a Portlaoise man appearing before last week’s district court.

An alleged burglary followed by a garda pursuit through five counties resulted in a Portlaoise man appearing before last week’s district court.

Shane O’Donoghue, 7 Old Knockmay Road, Portlaoise, was charged with burglary at 4 Ardagh Heights, Dublin Pike, Cork; possession of stolen property at Broughlone, Portlaoise; and theft from Emo Filling Station, all on July 23 this year. He was also charged with failing to stop for gardaí; driving without a licence; and two counts of dangerous driving, all at The Derries, Portlaoise, on May 12.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly said this was a complicated matter, involving an alleged burglary and pursuit.

The matter was put back to November 20 for DPP directions.
