federation AGM The Annual General Meeting of Laois Federation ICA will be held in Arles Hall on Wednesday April 25 at 8pm.
Guilds should inform the Arles Secretary Anna Mai Brennan of the numbers attending. Anna Mai can be contacted at 059-8625520 or 087-6496902. Presentations will be made on the night to the Cuisle Centre, Laois Hospice Foundation and the Patients Comfort Fund at Shaen Hospital.
The Federation Annual Dinner / Dance will take place on Friday night April 13 in the Gandon Inn with music by Har and Joe. Admission €20, dinner at 8pm sharp.
Laois Week at An Grianan will take place from Monday June 11 to Friday June 15. Classes include Social Dancing, Gardening and cookery for chocolate lovers, Hairpin crochet, Borris lace, Art, Digital Photography and Beaded Jewellery. It is hoped to organise a trip to An Grianan with a visit to the Titanic Exhibition in Belfast on August 7 and 8. To book a place please contact Anne Cass at 057-8731456.
Congratulations to Vivienne Rigley, Arles Guild who won the National final of the Simnel cake competition. The competition, which was sponsored by Gempack took place at An Grianan recently. 22 counties were represented in the competition so it was great to see Laois emerging the winner!
Laois ICA Federation Choir is taking a break for a while after a very successful season of concerts. On Friday night March 30 the choir sang at a concert in St Patrick’s Church, Stradbally where the guest artist was well known Rathdowney poet/storyteller/singer Michael Creagh.
The choir will give recitals at St Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick and the District Hospital, Abbeyleix during the Bealtaine Festival in mid May.
