On the evening of last Wednesday, April 4, a house was broken into at Castle Avenue in the Kilminchy estate of Portlaoise. The thieves forced entry to the house, which was unoccupied at the time, and stole an assortment of jewellery and a quantity of money. A spokesperson at the Portlaoise Garda Station said that investigations are ongoing, but anyone with any information can contact the gardaí on 05786 21666.

On the same evening two houses were broken into in the Clough Ballacolla area. The robberies took place some time between 5pm and 10pm, with the thieves forcing the back doors of the unoccupied houses. Jewellery was taken from one of the homes, with a spokesperson from the Abbeyleix Garda Station confirming that significant damage was caused to the door of the house.
