Area engineer, Orla Barrett said the roads will be surveyed and marked from one to ten with ten being a road in perfect condition. The council will pick the worst roads first to repair.

“The roads programme for 2014 and subsequent years will be approved by the department on this basis and will as always be presented to the elected members in the first quarter of the year.

“In the short term patch repairs will be carried out at this location,” she said.

Timahoe Councillor, James Daly had asked for the council to carry out urgent repair works on the road at Moneen Yard between Timahoe and Ballinakill.

Cllr Daly said there is one particular section of approximately 100 metres at the top of Moneen Yard which is impassable.

He said drainage works as well as road strengthening and surfacing is necessary here.
