Laois County Council are to look for money for community alert groups from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.

Laois County Council are to look for money for community alert groups from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.

They will ask for an allocation to be made in the October budget.

It is at the request of Cllr John King, Rathdowney.

“I welcome this, there are a lot of groups starting up and the biggest problem is funding for signs and cameras. If these groups were in every town and village at least there would be some kind of handle on crime,” he said, speaking at the September municipal district meeting.
