As part of Laois Connects Mental Health week, local yoga teacher Mary Kavanagh 200YTT will be hosting two active yoga and meditation workshops in Durrow and Mountrath.

Mary Kavanagh 200YTT has practiced yoga for three years as as well as meditation, relaxation and pranyama (breathing) techniques.

She qualified as an instructor at the Yoga Therapy and Training Centre in Dublin and now runs classes in Yogilibrium in Laois.

Mary says she can help bring a meditation practice into their every day busy lives.

“It can be easy to forget to take a little time out for yourself. People have long to-do lists and are on the go all day, but it is very important for your mental and physical health to take some time to quiet the mind. Meditation comes in many forms, not just sitting in stillness, and there are lots of ways to bring more mindfulness into your every day activities,” she says.

Mary says that the classes will help to quiet the mind, bringing focus to the breath and awareness to the body, giving tools to bring meditation into your everyday life. Even five minutes of a meditation practice everyday will bring big benefits.

Bring warm comfortable clothes, a blanket and a yoga mat if they have one.

The workshops take place the Castle Arms Hotel in Durrow on Monday October 6 and St Fintan’s Hall in Mountrath on Thursday October 9. Both workshops will run from 10am to 11.30am.

Booking is essential. To book contact 057 86 74363 or email sports@laoiscoco.ie. Classes are free of charge and all are welcome. For more information people can visit Yogilibrium’s Facebook page.
