Science Week went off with a bang again this year in Coláiste Iosagáin Portarlington, with the lunchtime Science show featuring explosions remaining a particularly popular event for students.

Science Week went off with a bang again this year in Coláiste Iosagáin Portarlington, with the lunchtime Science show featuring explosions remaining a particularly popular event for students.

The national week was marked with several events by the school’s science department, led by teacher John Heraty.

Portarlington business Polar Ice continued their annual tradition of delivering some dry ice free of charge for demonstrations.

The delivey was gratefully accepted by students Jacob Murphy , Sarah Walsh ,Alice Lozova and Lauren Connolly.

The student project competition had a record number of entrants.

First Year, Rachel Oakley took the top prize for her poster with bags of sugar attached beneath pictures of various soft drinks .

Brother and sister Bartosz and Iga Zbaza both finished in the top five with a motorised carousel and model of a ‘Green Home’ respectively .

Nicole Havill’s live spider enclosure certainly made a big impression.

Adam Conway and Aidan Kennedy’s website featured videos of experiments carried out .
