A row between neighbours in Mountrath led to a Pike of Rushall man last week being fined for public order offences.

Christopher Doheny, Derrin Oliver, Pike of Rushall, was charged with threatening or abusive behaviour, at Rushall, Mountrath, on January 30 this year.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly told the court that Doheny arrived on the scene of a neighbours’ row and verbally abused a woman.

Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said that her client’s bad behaviour had been directed at a man, but he was taking responsibility for his actions.

“There was a family dispute and matters escalated,” said Ms Fitzpatrick.

Doheny, who had 30 previous convictions, was convicted and fined €200.
