A woman who stole two suitcases while travelling on a train has been given a three-month prison sentence.

Bridget Connors, residing at Camden House, Dublin, stole two suitcases on the Dublin to Cork train. She brought them to the toilet and took items from them, Inspector Aidan Farrelly told the district court.

Connors had 47 previous convictions. She also previously failed to turn up in court.

Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said Connors had been homeless for a while. Judge Staines ruled as outlined, and fixed recognisance in the event of appeal.
