Compensation paid for damaging gate

A Portlaoise man previously convicted of damaging a garden gate by kicking it following an argument with his partner last week paid further compensation at the district court.

Murt Keogh, 37 St Brigid’s Place, Portlaoise, was convicted back in December of criminal damage, at Millview, Portlaoise, on September 30 last year. The court heard that Keogh kicked the latts off a gate, causing €580 of damage.

He paid over €150 in December, with a remaining €430 damages outstanding.

Last week, solicitor Mr Declan Breen handed in a further €300 on behalf of Keogh.

Judge Catherine Staines put the matter back to April 9 for the remaining €130 compensation, and for a probation report.
