Silvers
apply for new signs

THE management of Silvers bar in Portlaoise have applied for permission to erect a new sign on the front of the business.

The previous frontage of the Wild West-themed pub, owned by Mr Edward Brady and Mr David Power, had to be removed after it transpired that the management did not have planning permission. There was also a concern raised by Laois Heritage Society as to the potential damage which any construction work might cause to a nearby church.

An application has now been lodged with Laois County Council for new signs on the shopfront and wall of the bar at 81 Main Street. A decision is due by the end of May.
