Public lighting in Aughnaharna Drive will have to be addressed by the developer before Laois County Council can take the estate in charge.
Angela McEvoy of the council’s planning department informed last week’s meeting of Portlaoise Town Council, in a written communication, that these issues have been notified to the developer and once addressed the application to take the estate in charge can be made.
Ms McEvoy was responding to a motion by Cllr Caroline Dwane, who had called for an update on the outstanding works in Aughnaharna Estate.
“I’m looking for a stop sign at the junction and a ‘children - go slow’ sign, there’s a very bad bend there,” she said. “We should write to the developer and ask him to do these.”
“It’s a lovely estate, there are only a few small issues there,” added Cllr Catherine Fitzgerald.
