Big day for FETAC recipients

Laois Partnership Company held their annual FETAC Award Ceremony on Wednesday 25th June 2014 in the Parish Centre Portlaoise.

A total of 127 FETAC Awards were presented to students covering 12 FETAC Training Courses ranging from FETAC Level 3 to FETAC Level 5.

Certificates were presented by Brian Stanley TD, Michael Bergin Chairman Laois Partnership Company and Chris Horan Board Member, Laois Partnership Company

Speaking at the ceremony Brian Stanley TD stressed the importance of training and up-skilling in the current economic climate. With Laois Unemployment figures currently standing at 8,489 in May, the TD highlighted the importance of the work being done by Laois Partnership Company in the areas of Training and Education. He added his congratulations to all of the students on their fine achievements.

Michael Bergin Chairman Laois Partnership Company congratulated all of the students on achieving FETAC Certification. He complemented the Board and Management of Laois Partnership Company on the huge number of Projects being delivered throughout the county including programmes for older people, people with disabilities, lone parents and youth. On a final note he wished the students every success and hoped that their new skills would be put to good use in the future.

Catherine Cowap Social Inclusion Manager with Laois Partnership Company thanked the Department of Education and Laois/Offaly ETB who provided the funding to run the training courses under the Back to Education Initiative. Catherine spoke of the close working relationship with Laois /Offaly ETB who are now administering the Back to Education Initiative. Catherine went on to highlight the importance of the Unemployed Mentoring Service being offered by Laois Partnership Company whereby the mentors work on a one to one basis with individuals clients.

Frank White FETAC Training Co-Ordinator with Laois Partnership thanked the Management and Board of Laois Partnership Company. He also thanked his co-workers Michelle, Karen, Patricia, Ber & Miriam for their ongoing co-operation and assistance. He reserved a special word of thanks for the course trainers and course co-ordinators: Caragh Burns-New Approach, Mary O Connor- Ballycommon Training Centre, Hughes Consultancy & Training Kilkenny and Imelda Burke IT Trainer.
